<description>Way to go, Doug. This musing was worth paying for, so when I see you next time make sure you ask for a few bucks.

In a little research on the subject of humility a few weeks ago, I found stats suggesting that (a) 49% of Americans have a Facebook/MySpace page; (b) that number increases to 74% for the 18-34 demographic, and (c) 16% of adults post an update to their page at least once a day. I concluded that if nobody else puts us on the proverbial pedestal, I’ll do it myself (and probably do a better job at it anyhow).

Thanks for some laughs this morning. Have a good day.</description>

<description>Hi Doug, I am forwarding a link to Amazon and a book by Shane Hipps, The Hidden Power of the Electronic Culture; there's a chapter written about how with more communication avenues than ever before, each one (might actually be) doing the opposite, the point being we are becoming a culture that does less and less actual talking to one another. Another nail in the "oral tradition."

		<description>Hi,
You don't know me but I am your FB friend. This article is so funny. . . I thought you would put these blogs on your FB links, so that's why I wanted to be your FB friend. I have read several of your blogs b/c my husband sends them to my e-mail and I just like FB better than checking e-mail. . . So, I will remain your FB friend but still have to check e-mail to get your blogs unless you can figure out how to merge the two. The good thing is that my husband and I find your words valuable and do enjoy reading them. . . and don't worry. . . we won't text you. . . I hate it too! Be blessed!

		<description>Doug,

Switchfoot is indeed a special band. Jon, Tim Foreman &amp; Chad (Butler, son of Chuck Butler...) have accomplished a great deal. I would like to bring up a couple points; Their dad is Mark Foreman. Jon is Mark &amp; Jan's eldest son. Mark is senior pastor @ North Coast Calvary Chapel, in Carlsbad CA.

http://www.northcoastcalvary.org/

Mark's new book is: Wholly Jesus. It is a good study of who we are as Christians, relating to authenticity versus religion. The Foreman family has stayed true to their faith, and very solid while attaining success in their ventures. North Coast Calvary Chapel is probably the least "pastor focused" church I've seen, and I've seen quite a few church operations. Think along the lines of Jerry Cook's lesson of the church being outwardly focused rather than inward...

<description>dude, you are genius...this is great stuff...
I do think those seven seasons also happen at every 'age' of life...expecting for 09 a year fruitfully filled with each - experimenting with new things, learning, etc. even though I am in my 50's. Have four new areas of life I am doing this year that I have never done before - staying on the edge...
keep the great stuff coming...
thanks...stay strong, shalom.

<description>Doug, I agree with you in part. Recovering addicts, even though they may be Christians, are easily drawn back into the world they came out of. The mentoring needs to be the next step from recovering; delivered addict. Meaning, totally surrendered to Jesus, who overcame the world. I for 1, and have met others who have been delivered totally and have been set free from the addictions that put them in bondage. They, like myself, have been called back into the life to "rescue" others and show them the way. Jesus Himself met people where they were at, even the most unclean. We need to step up and be purposeful and intentional. Thank you for your blog and allowing me to respond.
