In 1947 a Brit named Allister Crawly died. He was a false prophet who influenced greatly celebrities and artisans and politicians of the 60’s. He declared the 20th Century Aeon Horus. His anthem is a well known one -“do as you whilt” or “do your own thing.” The idea was to make normal bad and bad normal. And his strategy for a new world order is dangerously close to working. One of the main fronts confronting us now is the militant move by some of the gay community or normalize and even take over Marriage and ancient and biblical tradition saved for a man and woman to share in. I am not anti-gay. In fact I am quit accustomed to interacting with this community. But that doesn’t mean i can afford as a leader to have hte “frog in a kettle effect me.” And i can not be muted just because my position is in many circles unhip, in others wasting time on unessentials, and in others a hate crime.
I don’t think we can afford to have marriage mean anything other than a life time commitment on the part of a man and woman to the institution. And you don’t have be at war against the gay community to hold this position. Bruce Cockburn once sang, “the trouble with normal is it always gets worse.”
