Change is a constant factor. I have always done the kind of work that could come to an end at any moment. And it is likely most of my readers do as well. I constantly wish my coaching “gigs” would last forever but they never do.
I am facing like many people what could be considered “bad” news. I am seeing a large shift in income sources. I am only part way through the process with two months to go before crunch time.
My wife and I pulled out one of my favorite writers when it comes to equipping your mind for a bright future, Norman Vincent Peale. One statement that I have tried to live by (often unsuccessfully) is the notion that in every disadvantage or negative surprise there is hidden an advantage.
I have concluded that my present shift is actually causing me to see my life more effectively leveraged for others. I am seeking the advantage for me and others. And if you stop and take that approach it is amazing the number of advantages there are to every troublesome interruption.
