I was recently meeting with a friend who is ministry. It was with delight he began to share a misstep (not sin just something stupid) who is well known in ministry. I stood up for the culprit. It just didn’t sound like him and if it were there is a high cost to pay for tearing down another person. This already being well handled by Satan.
I have been struck lately with how easy is like Peter for us to actually be tools of Satan in the name of religion or spirituality. Remember he informed Jesus his plan to go to the cross was a bad one. And Jesus said, “get behind me Satan.”
I thought of Noah after my friend and I went on our way. He got drunk after planting a vineyard. he was laying naked in his tent smashed out of his mind. Han and Canaan when and told the other brothers, “Noah is blasted and naked you ought to see it!”
But Shen and Japheth backed into the tent so as not to see Noah’s nakedness and draped a blanket over him and covered him.
Any idiot can criticize. And most our faults are so glaring it doesn’t take a genius to spot them. But it does take genius and spiritual aptitude to know how to handle negative data about anyone.
Slander and back biting are two actions that approximate our enemy in frightening ways.
