Stories My Mother Won’t Read #1
My dog has coprophagy.
What is coprophagy? It means he eats dog poop.
He seems to enjoy it so much too. He tries to bring and put it in his food dish sometimes. My other dog shows no interest whatsoever in someone else’s feces. But Harry can’t get enough.
I tried to find out why he would try and clean the yard up this way. I found one of the main reasons is dog’s get bored. I looked on the Internet and they say it can also be a deficiency of vitamin B. I don’t know what to think of that. I am pretty sure I have a vitamin B deficiency and don’t want to check the neighbor’s toilet for goodies.
Yes, I do keep the yard cleaned up. So don’t accuse me of it being my fault.
I know this probably isn’t the kind of thing a shepherd in God’s flock is suppose to write about. But I warned you early on we would discuss some things that “my mother wouldn’t read.” It is also true that prophet Ezekiel wrote about excrement. Only he cooked with it. It’s actually a fascinating study in the Bible. What’s more God told him to do it. Just another example of the fact the Bible is less pristine than we are.
One of the Internet helps I found for corprophagy is, “if your dog tries to eat feces in your presence say ‘no’, loudly. I have done that. Its like telling your kids its time for bed. They just look at you.
There is some stuff called Dis-Taste that makes it taste bad. I haven’t tried that yet but I am going to get some. A friend of mine went through alcohol rehab and they gave him a drug that made alcohol taste bad. Alcohol already tastes bad to me. But it works for him. And this could be a key thought. If all sin tasted bad people would do less of it I think.
I decided I wanted to have a moral to all these stores so I thought I’d better give it a try here. I think it is this, “leave other people’s mess alone. Its already messed the yard up once.” And have as few dogs as you can.
And some people just can’t get enough of other people’s messes. Slander, back-biting and judging others is nothing more than the human version of coprophagy.
