There are four kinds of snobs that bother me; First, jazz devotees; Two, wine experts; Three, elitist Christians; and Four, those who are snobbish about the other three. We live in a one-up world. Jesus made his mark against snobbery by calling himself God’s willful servant. I want only to be a witness not an expert. There really are no experts at this God thing. We are all amateur believers. At our best, we just point to His reality.

I discovered something I had never known before this week. I learned that George Whitefield, probably the most effective evangelist to walk our nations roads, had an old crippled man travel with him everywhere he went. The man had a gift for prayer. Whitefield attributed his great success to this man’s prayer. Maybe every church leader needs such to fulfill all that can be done.
