The Grammy’s were interesting this year. Vince Gill, a believer, won a Grammy. Kanye West won five, I believe, in the rock and rap categories. But the most interesting person to me was Amy Winehouse who won best album of the year. Her hit song off of the album was “Rehab.”
The song’s lyrics were a little tough to understand but the hook line was easy:
Ain’t going to rehab – no no – no no.
I have to admit it was catchy. Amy looks like if any one needed to go into rehab it was her. I read one report that she, in fact, was out on furlough from a rehab. She has serious drug and alcohol problems.
I guess she is singing out of her own need. Most of us do the same with our life songs. I used to listen for major confessions or thematic patterns in our speaking team. And I took note of my own. I concluded that we usually talk to ourselves. You tell me what your upset about in others and I can predict where your problems are.
More times than I care to pronounce I found that preachers preaching against lust were usually lusting the most. Or if someone talks about how unfriendly someone else or a group was, was usually unfriendly. So take a listen to yourself. You are likely crying out to be heard – by you.
