I am presenting a series on the Ten Commandments. It’s titled – "Every Truth is Inconvenient." The ten commandments are the bedrock of the Christian pilgrimage if seen through the eyes of grace. They are actually prophecies for we believers.
The third command has my particular interest right now.
You shall not misuse the name of God.
One of the meanings of the word misuse is “forge.” Or, in other words, you will not forge God’s name.
I have grown weary of everyone knowing what God is doing. Usually the insights have to do with everyone else’s life. It usually is a forgery.
The point of the command is to call us to let the name hold us not us hold it. We live in Jesus’ name. we don’t possess it.
I have always wanted one of those ministries where you tell everyone else what God is thinking about them. There are a lot of people I’d like to tell them what I think but it would be so much easier to blame it on God. So I just keep quiet.
There should be a quiet hush of the soul when it comes to speaking for God. I speak a lot and lately it has begun catching me unwilling to speak quickly. I don’t want to commit forgery. That is the beauty of just sticking to the Bible you never have to worry about it.
